"Defensiveness builds walls, causing frustration, polarization,
and power struggle in our families, schools and communities."

Sharon Ellison, M.S. is an award-winning speaker, international consultant, author, and a nominee for the "Leadership in a Changing World Award."She has provided cutting-edge training for families, educators, and social service professionals for over 40 years.

"In the past 48 hours, since the workshop, I've gotten to know each of my sons better than I have ever known him before." -- Ami Atkinson

As parents, the love and responsibility we feel can make us fearful about how to make the best decisions for our children - and how much to expect of them. We can end up being defensive and in power struggle despite our best intentions. In this workshop we will examine how traditional communication methods can literally trigger defensiveness, creating much needless pain in our families.

"I believe this is the most powerful structure I've learned in my training as a marriage and family therapist. It has tremendous implications for most human interactions." -- Bette Acuff, Ph.D., M.A., San Francisco, CA

You can use Powerful Non-Defensive Communication for:

  • Setting firm, gentle limits that enhance your child's ability-at any age-to be a respectful, competent member of family and community
  • Sharing your thoughts, beliefs and feelings in ways that increase the odds that your child will listen seriously, even seek out your opinion
  • Asking questions that are more likely to encourage your child to voluntarily open up about her/his own feelings and ideas

You will leave with skills that you can use immediately to strengthen your family.

"The kind of communication skills you are teaching should be started at the cradle for our new ones and shouted from the roof tops for those of us stuck in our patterns of defensiveness." -- Annie Kane

In addition to the Powerful Non-Defensive Parenting workshop, Sharon Ellison will also offer:

Taking the War Out of Our Words, An Introductory Evening - Wednesday, September 15
Powerful Non-Defensive Social Change - Sunday, September 26
